Happy Happy Happy Anniversary....

So today was our anniversary...3 glorious years of marriage. If I had any idea how great marriage could be, I would have done it years ago! :] This was us on our wedding day:

This is us eating a celebratory dinner tonight at one of our favorite restaurants...the Blue Iguana:

Michael is the best of men. He is so kind, gentle, intelligent, funny and quite the hottie, too! He has a caring heart and is so loyal and supportive. He is selfless and generous. He is the best husband in the world!! I've never laughed so hard nor felt so loved as I have since I met him.

A scene from So I Married an Axe Murderer has been going through my mind this last week, one of my favorites from the movie. I thought I would post it in celebration of our day:

Here's another lesser known but funny clips from The Flintstones with a similar song:

Finally, here is a song I would like to dedicate to Michael by Sarah Connor appropriately called Happy Anniversary. Although the video is of a different kind of love (The Phantom and Christine--the only clip I could find without half naked pics of the singer), I think the words express how I feel about him:

Happy Anniversary Michael! Thanks for the best 3 years of my life, honey! Thanks for asking me to be yours forever. I love you much!

Long Term Effects

Don't hate me. I just thought this was hilarious! (It came from this site.) I like John Travolta and I loved the movie Hairspray. But it does take a special kind of man who is willing to dress up like, as my brother calls it, a jolly (or robust) woman in a pink sequin dress. This character scares many a man, my husband included. He does pull off the outfit quite nicely. I don't think I could have pulled that one off! :]

You Scream...I Scream...

So...here's something fun for everyone!!

"MaggieMoo's Ice Cream & Treatery of Sugar House, UT, would like to announce that on April 15, 2009, we would like to reward our guests with one free single-scoop of ice cream in honor of Tax Day. We will create our own "e-CONE-omic" ice cream stimulus package. This ice cream social will take place from 12 pm to 8 pm, and guests are encouraged to file-in-line at our Treatery.

Further, we encourage our guests to make a donation to the Autism Council of Utah when you visit our Treatery, anytime during April, Autism Awareness Month."

This is a nationwide promotion. Check out their website for a location near you. See you there!!

Don't Judge a Book

My friend sent me a link to this video and I was blown away! (Watch before reading on to avoid spoilers. Sorry that I can't find one that allows embedding.) The video is from the show Britain's Got Talent. And boy, is she talented! Her choice of songs was perfect. It's one of my favorites. I don't know what it is about this clip...if it's the underdog story factor, if I enjoy smug people being put in their places, if it makes me happy to see people's talents appreciated or if it's the idea and opportunity of being given a chance to make a better life for yourself while fulfilling your dream. Probably all of the above. But whatever the reason, I got tears in my eyes while watching this video.

One of my favorite quotes was from one of judges, Amanda Holden, who said, "I am so thrilled because I know everyone was against you. We are all so cynical but that was a complete wake up call. It was a complete privilege".

Here are some links to the back story of Susan Doyle as well as from the performance:

I hope she wins! Even if she doesn't, I think big things are in store for her.

Question of the Week

Okay. This week's question is brought to you by a gentleman in Boston. He wanted to change his seating assignment. When I pulled up the flight I saw there were two seats left, both middle seats. I explained this to him.
He said, "I need an aisle seat."
I reiterated that "the only two seats left on the flight are middle seats."
He said, "Well, how about a window seat."
I said, "There are only two seats available on the entire plane. 7b and 17b, which are both middle seats. I don't have any aisle or window seats available on this plane."
He said, "You don't have any aisle or window seats on the whole plane? Will you check again. I don't think you are right."
I said, "I have a map of the entire flight pulled up in front of me. The only 2 seats available are middle seats, 7b and 17b."
He said, "So you are sure?"
I said, "Positive."
He said, "Okay. I guess I will check back in a couple of hours." (His flight isn't for 2 weeks.)
I then explained he can pull up seat maps on our website and he can make seat assignment changes online as well as over the phone.
He said, "Okay. I will just call back in a couple of hours."

So, how many times and ways do some people have to hear the same answer before they will actually listen and have it sink in? This gentleman...the tally was...5 times. I wish I could say this wasn't the norm, but I would be lying my bootie off.

Reason for the Season

I saw this on my friend, J's blog and absolutely loved it! It was so beautiful. It's easy to get caught up in the candy and fluff of Easter and forget what it is really all about. Hope you enjoy it!

Also, here is a link to a message issued by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (where I go to church) sharing a message this Easter season. It is a season of hope and renewal through the atonement and resurrection of Christ.

Vacation....All I Ever Wanted...

Vacation...had to get away! And, boy! Was it nice to get away! We had a wonderful mini break in Wendover as an early anniversary celebration. We left Wednesday afternoon and got back Friday afternoon. It was short but sweet. We both definitely needed the break! Here are some of the highlights from the trip:

(Wendover Will welcoming us)
We stayed here:

Our hotel room looked like this:

Michael said I could never call him from this:

I couldn't get enough of this:

(It is a steam shower...our own private steam room. It was glorious!)

The inside of the hotel looked like this:

We ate this:

We did some of this:

We had a great weekend filled with lots of chill time, eating and relaxing. We toured the little town of Wendover and saw this:

As well as this:

One thing I didn't get a picture of was the mini mall. Boy! Was it mini! It must have been a old motel turned into a couple of shops. Definitely the most mini of malls I have ever seen.

The only thing I could have done without is this:

It was everywhere went went, except for our non-smoking room. But, it wasn't unexpected. Dorothy, you're not in Kansas (or in my case Utah) any more. :]

We went to a Cabaret show at the Rainbow Hotel where a group called Touch of Silk were featured. While enjoying the music we chatted with an extremely nice (and drunk) couple. They were definitely entertaining. They said we were nice and offered to buy us a drink. We had just finished eating and were extremely full so we declined. He pulled out a wad of cash and told us he'd really like to buy us a beer. He was sweet but we were good (and don't drink) but thanked him. They were nearly as entertaining as the music. Here is a picture of Touch of Silk performing:

On the way home we saw this:

(Utah Tree on the way into/out of Wendover)

We didn't want to come home but I had to work on Friday night. So, we headed home. It was a great early anniversary trip. Sometimes it's not where you go, but that you have gone and with the one you love that makes the difference. I planned this year. Michael said it was a success and I have to agree with him.

Baby Got a Burger

Okay. I've never been a big fan of Burger King but I just may become one after watching this 2:23 minute music video. It's probably not a video for kids to watch. But to this warped and kooky gal, it is hilarious. Probably because I like square butts and I cannot lie. Enjoy!

Revenge...Meat...and the Gay Blade

Michael loves designing motivational posters like the one he did above, one of his most recent. It makes me laugh, as does Michael. Just wanted to toot his talented and comedic horn for a minute. If you haven't checked out his blog, drop on over and see it.

Here's another he designed out of a picture I took with my cell phone at lunch to send to his brother while on our most recent vacation...

I will leave you with one of my ultimate favs he has done. The picture is from the movie Zorro the Gay Blade, one of my all time favorite movies...

(If you were wondering, yes, that is George Hamilton)

Getting Outta Dodge

If anyone is looking for us, we'll be here:

Question of the Week

Umm...so this work week was a short one with the whole anniversary mini break. I think the best one this week was courtesy of a woman whose flight was canceled due to weather in New York. (I know what you are thinking...bad weather in New York? Shocking! If you don't work in the travel industry, that is.) Anyhoo. Her flight was canceled and she had a cruise she was supposed to be on a day later. The next flight the airport could get her on wouldn't allow enough time to get to the ship in time, which I must admit would have to suck! On to the good stuff... Her question was more of a demand. "You need to bump someone off the next flight or I will sue you personally." (I'm thinking...Me personally? Yep. Since it is MY fault!) My response, "Ma'am, the next two flights were canceled due to the same weather issue." Her response, "I don't care! You need to get me on the flight!" I repeated in different verbiage that the next couple of flights were also canceled. She inquired on the flight after that. I explained that the following flight was sold out and the flight after that is the one in which she had already been moved. She then said, "Well, I bought this flight two months ago and you need to bump someone off and get me on that flight." I tried to explain that some of these people were on flights the day before her flight that were also canceled and we are trying to accommodate everyone as quickly as possible. She then proceeded to tell me she didn't care about other people (shocker!) and that I needed to bump someone off the flight and get her on it. I again explained the options I had to offer (none of which included bumping off another customer). She, of course, wanted my supervisor because she thought she could do what I couldn't. I read the notes later from my sup and she reiterated what I had already told the woman and the woman cursed and hung up. Good times!

And you wonder why I need a vacation?

Welcome Back My Friends

"Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends
We're so glad you could attend
Come inside! Come inside!
There behind a glass is a real blade of grass
Be careful as you pass.
Move along! Move along!

Come inside, the shows about to start
Guaranteed to blow your head apart
Rest assured you'll get your moneys worth
The greatest show in heaven, hell or earth.
You've got to see the show, its a dynamo.
You've got to see the show, its rock and roll ...."

I woke up this morning at 6am for no good reason. I can usually sleep and sleep until the alarm goes off, which was set for 9:30am. (Ah! The joys of having no kids!) Not this morning. :[ I awoke with a song going through my mind which has been stuck there for a couple of days now thanks to my lovely husband, Michael. It's by Emerson, Lake & Palmer from the album entitled Brain Salad Surgery and is called "Karn Evil 9 Part 2". (I never would have known all of that before meeting Michael.) The part of the song that keeps going over and over in my head is listed above. The first time I heard it, I laughed out loud. Such clever lyrics. Anyhoo. I thought it was the perfect way to open up my blog and make it public. I've been thinking about it for a while but hadn't made up my mind. I decided to do a trial run for a month. And, if nothing crazy happens, I'll leave it that way.

So, welcome to my blog. I can't guarantee there will be any head blowing or that it will be the greatest show on earth. But I can guarantee you will get your money's worth. :] Come inside! Come inside!

And for your listening pleasure (and so it can get stuck in your head, too):

Stupid Question of the Week

I've decided that I am going to do this as a weekly thing. I am going to jot down all of the dumb things people say to me and pick the best one to share each week.

This week comes courtesy of a girl from New Jersey. Here's the conversation:
NJ Girl: "I wanted to get a price quote on airfare from NYC to a couple of different destinations."
Me: "Sure. Where would you like to travel? Date you would like to travel?"
NJ Girl: "I'm not sure. Can't you just give me an estimate?"
Me: "I would need to know the cities you want to travel to and the dates before I could quote you a price for airfare."
NJ Girl: "Well, I'm not sure where I want to go or when but I was just trying to find out how much it would cost."
Me: "I would need to have a city where you would want to travel and the dates you would like to travel before I could quote you a price."
NJ Girl: "Are you sure? You can't just give me an estimate?"
Me: "We fly to 56 cities and have several flights per day between those cities. Each flight could be a different price if the lower fares have already been purchased. I could look up a couple of different city options and dates for you if you have an idea of where and when you would like to travel."
NJ Girl: "No. I don't know where I want to travel yet. I guess I will just have to call back when I know. Are you really sure you can't just give me an estimate?"
Me: "I would need to have the destination and date of travel before I could give you a price quote. If you have access to the internet, you can check out our website for travel deals to our different destinations. Maybe that would give you a better idea."
NJ Girl: "Well, thanks for nothing!"
Me: "Thanks for calling (name of company)"
End call.

What is the most obvious or hilariously stupid question you have ever been asked?
